Ives, bronze medalist at Salt Lake City, retires from competitive luge

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) Three-time Olympian Clay Ives, who won a bronze medal in the luge at the Salt Lake City Games, retired Monday.

The retirement comes less than two months after Ives and partner Chris Thorpe took bronze in the doubles.

Ives competed in the 1994 and 1998 games for Canada. In 1998, he obtained dual citizenship and began racing with USA Luge.
