San Jose, Apr 27 (EFE).- The captain of Costa Rica's soccer team, defender Reynaldo Parks, hopes to recover from a chronic injury in time for the upcoming World Cup in South Korea and Japan. Parks, who plays for Deportivo Saprissa in Costa Rica, had a slight relapse on Thursday of his right knee injury. "It is only a slight relapse. With no pain," he told the newspaper La Nacion. He also said his aim is to play in the World Cup. "I will do what is necessary to make it. I see myself in the World Cup as a participant, not a spectator," he asserted. Parks is one of four injured players on Costa Rica's World Cup squad. The others are defender Jervis Drummond and forwards Hernan Medford and Paulo Cesar Wanchope. The team's first match is against China on Jun. 4. Before traveling to Asia, they have a friendly game against Colombia on May 9. Costa Rica is in Group C, with China, Brazil, and Turkey.
