MADRID (Ticker) -- Real Madrid entered the Champions League semifinal second leg with a commanding advantage over archrival Barcelona and Raul effectively sealed the contest after 43 minutes on Wednesday. Raul struck his fifth goal in the competition this season as Real Madrid held on for a 1-1 draw against Barcelona, clinched a 3-1 aggregate victory and secured a place in the 2002 Champions League final. In the championship match of Europe's most prestigious club competition, Real will battle German club Bayer Leverkusen on May 15 at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland. Barcelona just missed slicing its aggregate deficit to 2-1 in the 39th minute when Fabio Rochemback's blast was redirected off the left post by Philip Cocu. Raul collected the ball from Zinedine Zidane about 20 yards from goal and unleashed his 43rd-minute shot into the top right corner of the net to effectively seal the contest. Four minutes after the interval, defender Ivan Helguera turned an own-goal past Real goalkeeper Cesar to provide Barcelona a glimmer of hope. But Barca marksman Patrick Kluivert flipped a chance over the crossbar with six minutes left to underline Barca's shooting woes during the two matches. Real Madrid will try to win its third Champions League crown in five seasons. In 1998, Real edged Juventus of Italy, 1-0, and in 2000, Real rolled over Valencia, 3-0. Real last played in the former-European Cup final in Glasgow in 1960. In that year, the "Madristas" beat Barca in the semifinals and advanced to a championship match against a German club, Eintracht Frankfurt. On May 18, 1960, Real hammered Eintracht, 7-3, to capture its fifth straight European Cup. Leverkusen reached its first Champions League final Tuesday, when the club earned a 1-1 home draw with 1999 titlist Manchester United. Laverkusen worked out a 3-3 tie, advancing on the away-goals rule. Despite a bomb exploding outside the Bernabeu at about 10:55 am EDT Wednesday, the match between Real Madrid and Barcelona kicked off on time. According to Madrid police, nine people were slightly injured in the explosion. There also was another bomb that went off on the other side of the Spanish capital.
