IRVINE, California (Ticker) -- The Southern California SURF of the ABA named former Los Angeles Lakers forward A.C. Green president and general manager on Monday.

Green, a member of the great Lakers' "Showtime" teams of the 1980s and early '90s, recently came out of retirement to play in the World Pro Basketball Challenge Tournament in Las Vegas. He still holds the NBA record for consecutive games played with 1,192.

"The ABA and the SURF have tremendous potential and a solid future. ... I look forward to it becoming a catalyst to help build great friendships and stronger communities for us all to enjoy," said Green, who helped the Lakers win three NBA titles.
