LaSALLE, Ontario (Ticker) -- Morris Hatalsky and Tom Jenkins are tied for the lead going into Sunday's final round of the Canadian Senior Open at the Essex Golf & Country Club.

Hatalsky fired a 7-under-par 64 Saturday to tie Tom Jenkins for the lead at 11-under 131. Jenkins posted a 3-under 68 after opening with a 63.

Remarkably, Hatalsky's score was only the fourth-best of the day. Bruce Lietzke shot a 9-under 62 to move into sole possession of third place at 132.

The 61-year-old Walter Morgan matched the low round in Senior PGA Tour history with an 11-under-par 60 Saturday that lifted him from a tie for 59th to a tie for fourth.

The only other player to shoot 60 in a Senior Tour event is Japan's Isao Aoki, who did it in the second round of the 1997 Emerald Coast Classic.

Morgan, who posted a 73 on Friday, completed 36 holes at 9-under 133 and is tied with Bruce Summerhays. He recorded the last of his three Senior Tour wins at the 1996 Ameritech Senior Open.

Bob Gilder carded an 8-under 63 to climb into a tie for 11th at 6-under 136.

With no top-10 finishes this year, Morgan seemed an unlikely candidate to tie a record. He tied for 35th in his last start at the Greater Baltimore Classic and his best result this season is a tie for 16th at the NFL Golf Classic early last month.

But Morgan was on fire Saturday with 12 birdies and just one bogey, shooting a 6-under 29 on the front and a 5-under 31 on the back. He was 10-under through 13 holes.

Starting at No. 2, Morgan had a string of six birdies in seven holes to make the turn at 6-under, then continued his blistering pace with four straight birdies to start the back.

Morgan could have shot a 59 if not for a bogey at No. 14, but he rebounded with birdies at the 15th and 16th holes. He had two more chances to reach 59 but just missed birdie putts of eight and 13 feet on the final two holes.

Three players have shot 59 on the PGA Tour -- Al Geiberger, Chip Beck and David Duval -- while Annika Sorenstam is the only player on the LPGA Tour to accomplish the feat.

Ontario native Gar Hamilton, who started the round two shots behind Jenkins, settled for a 2-under 69 and is tied for sixth with Butch Sheehan at 134.

Mike McCullough, Tom Kite and Allen Doyle are tied for eighth at 135.

Defending champion Walter Hall is in a group at 137 after a 2-under 69, while Don Pooley, who won last week's U.S. Senior Open, is another stroke back.

The Essex Golf & Country Club is a par-71, 6,703-yard layout.
