COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Ticker) -- Fresno Grizzlies outfielder Tony Torcato and Edmonton Trappers righthander Scott Randall on Monday were named Pacific Coast League Player and Pitcher of the Week. Torcato, the 19th overall pick in the 1998 draft, hit .500 (12-for-24) with four home runs and eight RBI in seven games. He scored seven runs and compiled a 1.000 slugging percentage and .552 on-base percentage. At 22, the second-youngest player in the league to start the season, Torcato homered twice and knocked in three runs in Saturday's 6-1 triumph at Sacramento. That gave him five straight multi-hit games. Randall tossed eight innings of scoreless relief and allowed just six hits and a walk while striking out three as the winning pitcher in Wednesday's 10-1 rout at Portland. The 26-year-old has won all 10 of his decisions between Class AA New Britain and Edmonton. He has a 3.82 ERA with the Trappers. Copyright © 2002 SportsTicker Enterprises, L.P. |
