DUBLIN, Ohio (Ticker) -- Charlotte Knight first baseman Brooks Kieschnick and Norfolk Tides righthander Saturo Komiyama on Monday were named International League Player and Pitcher of the Week. Kieschnick hit .412 (7-for-17) with three home runs and six RBI in four games. He had a double, scored five runs and posted a 1.000 slugging percentage and .412 on-base percentage. The 10th overall pick in the 1993 draft, Kieschnick singled, doubled and homered in Saturday's 12-4 victory over Pawtucket. He also pitched three innings of scoreless relief. Komiyama, who spent 12 years in the Japanese League before signing with the New York Mets, allowed one run and six hits in 15 innings, striking out 12 while walking three. The 36-year-old gave up three hits over eight innings but did not figure in a 4-0 loss to Ottawa on Tuesday. On Sunday, he pitched a three-hitter for his first North American complete game in a 3-1 victory over Columbus in the second game of a doubleheader.
