Japan's Sato To Defend Wba Super Bantamweight Title

TOKYO (AP) Osamu Sato of Japan will defend his WBA super bantamweight title against France's Salim Medjkoune in Tokyo on Oct. 9 at Tokyo's National Yoyogi Sports Arena.

It will be the 25-year-old Sato's first defense of the title he won from Thailand's Yoddamrong Singwangcha in Japan on May 18.

Medjkoune, 30, the No. 1 contender, has a record of 38 wins, including 20 knockouts, three defeats and one draw.

Sato has 26 victories, including 15 by knockout, one defeat and two draws.
