SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) Monterrey Contry Little League defeated Heroic Children Little League of Reynoso 6-3 to win the Mexican championship and qualify for the Little League World Series.

The Monterrey team's win on Monday made them the second team to qualify for the 2002 series, joining Khovrino Little League of Moscow.

Monterrey will open the series against the Caribbean champion, to be determined Aug. 3 in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Little League World Series begins Aug. 16, with the championship scheduled for Aug. 25.
