SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) The Florida Panthers signed veteran left wing Stephane Matteau to a one-year contract Friday.

Matteau is reunited with Panthers coach Mike Keenan. The 12-year veteran played for Keenan with Chicago, St. Louis and the New York Rangers, where they won the Stanley Cup in 1994.

Matteau, an unrestricted free-agent, spent the last five seasons with San Jose. He had seven goals and four assists for the Sharks last season.

Matteau has 140 goals and 168 assists in 796 career NHL games with Calgary, Chicago, New York, St. Louis and San Jose. In 118 NHL playoff games, Matteau has 12 goals and 23 assists.
