Canadiens Sign D Souray To Two-Year Contract

MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Montreal Canadiens on Friday signed defenseman Sheldon Souray, who is coming off an injury-plagued season, to a two-year contract.

The Canadiens also signed left wing Francis Bouillon and goaltender Mathieu Garon to one-year contracts. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Souray, 26, is entering his sixth NHL season and fourth with the Canadiens. He played in only 34 games for Montreal last season, registering three goals and five assists.

Bouillon, also 26, recorded five assists in 28 games with Montreal last season. He also played in 38 contests for the Quebec Citadelles of the American Hockey League.

Garon, 24, participated in five games with the Canadiens last season and has a career mark of 5-9-1 in 16 career NHL contests.

He spent most of the 2000-01 campaign in Quebec, posting a 21-15-12 record with a 2.73 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in 50 games for the Citadelles. The 21 wins were a career high.
