DETROIT (AP) Detroit Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman had knee surgery Friday, and the team said the operation was successful.

Yzerman is expected to return to the lineup between late December and early February.

The operation corrected the alignment of the right knee and was performed by Dr. Peter Fowler.
