CHICAGO (AP) Boris Mironov has re-signed for next season with the Chicago Blackhawks, who said Friday they would continue to work with the defenseman's agent on a possible multiyear deal.

In 64 games for the Blackhawks last season, the 30-year-old Mironov averaged 23 minutes, scored four goals and had 14 assists.

Mironov sustained a dislocated shoulder in March and subsequently missed nine regular-season games. Mironov also had a groin injury late in the season that kept him out of all but one playoff game against the Blues.

The Blackhawks acquired Mironov in 1999 as part of a seven-player trade with Edmonton. Since then, Mironov has played in 200 games, getting 18 goals, 68 assists and 209 penalty minutes.
