Penguins Sign College Star Matt Murley

PITTSBURGH (AP) The Pittsburgh Penguins signed Matt Murley, one of their top draft picks from three years ago, on Saturday.

Murley, a 22-year-old left wing who starred the last four years for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, was the Penguins' second-round pick in 1999. He had 74 goals and 101 assists in 137 games.

Last season, he had 24 goals and 22 assists in 32 games. His 1.44 points per game average was the fifth highest in the country.
