TORONTO (AP) Denis Gauthier re-signed with the Calgary Flames on Saturday after winning his arbitration case against the club.

The two-year deal is reportedly worth $2.4 million, with Gauthier making $1.1 million next season and $1.3 million the following year.

The Montreal native made $675,000 last season. In 66 games, the defenseman had five goals, eight assists and 91 penalty minutes.

"Denis is a valued member of our team," general manager Craig Button said. "Having him under contract for the next two years and showing the same progress that he demonstrated this past season will contribute to our team's success."

Gauthier was Calgary's first choice, 20th overall, in the 1995 draft.
