INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Max Papis will replace injured driver Adrian Fernandez in Sunday's CART Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. The 32-year-old Papis, in his seventh season of Champ Car competition, last raced on June 9 in Monterey, Calif. He missed the last five events when Sigma Autosport's ran out of money and withdrew from the series. Fernandez, the only owner-driver in the Champ car series, is recovering from a crash on July 28 during a race in Vancouver, British Columbia. His car was hit from behind and the cockpit punctured by a piece of metal that left Fernandez with two hairline fractures in his left pelvis and severe bruising on his right buttock. Papis, who has three career wins, had two third-place finishes for the underfinanced team in the first five races of the season. He has a best finish of fourth in seven Mid-Ohio appearances.
