PITTSBURGH (AP) The Pittsburgh Penguins claimed defenseman Dick Tarnstrom was off waivers on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old Tarnstrom had three goals, 16 assists and 38 penalty minutes in 62 games with the New York Islanders last season.

Tarnstrom played for AIK in Sweden before joining the Islanders.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Swede was selected in the 11th round of the 1994 draft by the Islanders.
