HOUSTON (AP) Tina Thompson, who scored 19 points to lead the Houston Comets to a 67-54 victory over the Cleveland Rockers on Tuesday night, collapsed on the court with 47 seconds left and was carried off on a stretcher.

It appeared that Thompson was kneed in the ribs as Rockers guard Merlakia Jones went up for a layup. Thompson landed on her feet and then collapsed. There was no immediate word on her condition.

The Comets (22-7) won their 13th straight home game, tying a team record.

Chastity Melvin and Penny Taylor each scored 13 points for the Rockers (10-18), who were eliminated from WNBA playoff contention.

Sheryl Swoopes scored 14 points and Janeth Arcain added 13 for Houston.

Melvin hit a 3-pointer with 16:33 left to bring the Rockers within three. Houston then went on a 10-2 run to take a 47-37 lead with 12:15 left. The Rockers got within eight points with 6:05 left as Jennifer Rizzotti connected on her third 3-pointer.

But the Comets outscored Cleveland 13-6 down the stretch and held on.

Houston led by as many as eight points in the first half as Swoopes, Thompson and Arcain combined for 26 of Houston's 30 points.

The Rockers closed the half on a 9-2 run to get within 30-29.
