HOUSTON (AP) Tina Thompson led the Houston Comets to their 13th straight home win and gave everyone quite a scare. Thompson, who scored 19 points in the 67-54 victory over the Cleveland Rockers on Tuesday night, collapsed on the court with 47 seconds left and was carried off on a stretcher. Thompson was kneed in the hip while attempting to block a layup by Rockers guard Merlakia Jones. Thompson landed on her feet and then collapsed. The game was delayed almost 10 minutes. "She has a contusion to the right hip," Houston coach Van Chancellor said. "I don't know if she'll play Thursday against Los Angeles or not, but it does not look long term. We don't know how long it's going to take her to get back, but knowing Tina, if there's any way in the world, shell be back pretty quick." The Comets (22-7) tied a team record for consecutive home wins. Chastity Melvin and Penny Taylor each scored 13 points for the Rockers (10-18), who were eliminated from WNBA playoff contention. "I think we competed very tough tonight," Rockers coach Dan Hughes said. "I thought when we were successful, we brought out our post game. "In the second half, I thought we had more difficulty getting the ball in the situations to bring out our post game," Hughes said. "We had a good inside-outside game tonight, but Houston is a good team and they create a lot of difficulties for you." Sheryl Swoopes scored 14 points and Janeth Arcain added 13 for Houston. "Cleveland is a very physical team and we've had a hard time beating them at home in the past," Swoopes said. "Whether it was ugly or we were lucky, we're happy to walk away with a victory and we'll be ready to play Thursday." Melvin hit a 3-pointer with 16:33 left to bring the Rockers within three. Houston then went on a 10-2 run to take a 47-37 lead with 12:15 left. The Rockers got within eight points with 6:05 left as Jennifer Rizzotti connected on her third 3-pointer. But the Comets outscored Cleveland 13-6 down the stretch and held on. Houston led by as many as eight points in the first half as Swoopes, Thompson and Arcain combined for 26 of Houston's 30 points. The Rockers closed the half on a 9-2 run to get within 30-29.
