SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) It's a Giggle won the $75,000 A.P. Smithwick Memorial steeplechase Thursday at Saratoga Race Course, beating Tres Touche by a length. It's a Giggle, ridden by Gus Brown, ran 2 1-16 miles in 3:37 2-5 - one second off the track record - and paid $3.70, $2.80 and $2.50 for his third victory in three steeplechase races. The colt, owned by William Pape and trained by Jonathan Sheppard, is expected to make his next start Aug. 29 in the $100,000 New York Turf Writers' Handicap. Brown rode It's a Giggle in place of regular rider Blythe Miller, recovering from a concussion. Tres Touche returned $4.50 and $3.50, and Indispensable paid $4.90 to show. Also Thursday, Richard Migliore, hurt Sunday in a fall, won with his first mount back, guiding Mike's Thunder to a two-length victory in the fourth race. Migliore was badly bruised Sunday when he fell off Iron Deputy in the $500,000 Jim Dandy Stakes.
