TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Florida State defensive tackle Jeff Womble was suspended for the Seminoles' Aug. 24 opener against Iowa State for violating team rules, coach Bobby Bowden said Thursday.

Bowden would not say how the junior lineman violated the rules.

Travis Johnson is slated to replace Womble in the lineup.
