MARIETTA, Georgia (Ticker) -- Carolina Mudcats third baseman Garrett Atkins and Orlando Rays righthander Dewon Brazelton on Friday were named Southern League Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Atkins hit .385 (10-for-26) with two doubles, three home runs and six RBI in seven games. He scored six runs and had an .808 slugging percentage to go with a .438 on-base percentage.

Atkins capped his week by going 4-for-4 with a pair of solo homers in an 11-10 loss to Tennessee on Thursday.

Brazelton went 2-0, allowing just an unearned run in 14 innings. He scattered eight hits and four walks with eight strikeouts.

Brazelton worked seven scoreless innings in Saturday's win over Tennessee, then yielded an unearned run and five hits Thursday in a 4-1 triumph over Greenville.
