MIAMI (AP) Sheri Sam scored 18 points and Betty Lennox sparked a second-half rally as the Miami Sol improved their playoff chances with a 65-59 victory over Cleveland on Friday night. Miami (14-16) moved into a tie with Orlando and Indiana for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with two games remaining for all three teams. The Sol, who will play at Indiana on Sunday night and close the regular season at home against Detroit on Tuesday night, hold the tiebreaker over both Orlando and Indiana. "The only thing I'm looking at is the end," Miami coach Ron Rothstein said. "If we win two, we're in the playoffs. It doesn't matter what anybody else does. We fought our way back to this position and hopefully we can close the deal." The Sol trailed 34-23 at halftime, the largest deficit the team has overcome to win in franchise history. Lennox scored all 12 of her points in the final 20 minutes, hitting four 3-pointers, and Sam had 10 points in the second half. "We picked up on our defense and forced some turnovers, and our shots began to fall," Sam said. Lennox hit a 3-pointer with 10:55 to go to give the Sol the lead for good at 44-42, and added another 3-pointer to make it 51-46. Ruth Riley made a hook shot with 2:25 left, and her three-point play upped Miami's lead to eight with 1:50 remaining. "Our back was to the wall and we just had to get it done," Rothstein said. "Our energy and effort keyed out offense in the second half." Penny Taylor scored 11 points and Rushia Brown and Ann Wauters each had 10 for Cleveland, which has lost four straight to drop to 10-20. "We didn't do a good job of taking care of the ball in the second half," Cleveland coach Dan Hughes said. "We did a good job in the first half of keeping them out of the paint, but they reclaimed their presence in the second half. "Tonight, particularly in the second half, the Sol played hungry. They played like a team fighting for a playoff spot."
