TORONTO (AP) Portcullis took the lead late in the stretch to win Saturday's Breeders' Stakes thoroughbred race, the final event in the Canadian Triple Crown.

Portcullis overtook leader El Soprano to take first among the 10-horse field at Toronto's Woodbine Racetrack. The victory was worth $300,000 for owner Sam-Son Farms, of Milton, Ontario.

Portcullis captured the 1½-mile event on a firm turf in 2 minutes, 29.8 seconds. El Soprano came in second, with Mountain Beacon taking third.

Portcullis becomes the third different winner in the Triple Crown series. T.J.'s Lucky Moon won the Queen's Plate race and Le Cinquieme Essai won the Prince of Wales, but neither horse was entered in Saturday's race.
