OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) Valid Video took command entering the stretch and earned a 2½-length victory over Farno in the $100,000 Sapling Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday. Valid Video covered the six-furlong sprint for 2-year-olds in 1:09.4 to win for the second time in as many career starts. The Chuck C. Lopez-ridden son of Valid Wager paid $5.80, $4.20 and $3 as the favorite in the field of eight. "I love it when a plan comes together," trainer Dennis Manning said. "I had the Sapling in mind before he even started the first time. This is a nice horse, and he was maybe 80 percent of what he can be today." Farno, who finished second to Valid Video in their first meeting on June 14, returned $9.60 and $3.60. Boston Park finished third in the Grade 3 stakes and paid $3 for show. In the day's other feature, Matthew Sheerin's Twilights Prayer ($16.20) rallied in the stretch to post a 1½ length victory over Willie's Luv in the $50,000 Spruce Fir Handicap. Trained by Gary Contessa and ridden by Dale Beckner, Twilights Prayer ran the eight furlongs over a firm turn course in 1:36.1. It was her first win in four starts this year.
