TERREBONNE, Quebec (AP) Hank Kuehne, the 1998 U.S. Amateur champion, tapped in a birdie putt on the second playoff hole Sunday to win the Canadian Tour's $200,000 Quebec Open. Kuehne shot a final-round 69 for a 72-hole total of 15-under 273 to finish tied with fellow American Michael Harris, who also had a closing 69. The first prize of $105,959 put Kuehne into first place on the tour's money list with just next week's Greater Toronto Open remaining. It was Kuehne's second win of the year on tour. After struggling with short putts all day, Kuehne drained a crucial 15-footer on the 72nd hole and waited for Harris, who birdied No. 17 to pull even. Harris saved par on 18 to force the playoff. After both players made par on the first extra hole, Kuehne hit a 350-yard drive that was almost out of bounds on the par-5 1st. He recovered with an approach within 12 feet, before rolling the eagle putt a foot by the cup. Harris just missed a 6-foot birdie putt that would have extended the playoff. "I was unbelievably lucky with that tee shot, but sometimes you need the breaks to win," Kuehne said. "I knew I needed to play well here, and I am pleased I rose to the occasion." Ken Duke, who had a one-stroke lead over Kuehne and Harris entering the final round, closed with a 71.
