Gordon, Ottavinia & Mears Win Texas League Weekly Honors

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Ticker) -- El Paso Diablos outfielder Brian Gordon and Tulsa Drillers outfielder Paul Ottavinia were named the Texas League co-Players of the Week on Monday.

San Antonio Missions righthander Chris Mears won Pitcher of the Week honors.

Gordon hit .417 (10-for-24) with two homers and four RBI in six games. He had two doubles, scored nine runs, posted a .750 slugging percentage and a .444 on-base percentage.

Gordon opened his week by going 4-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs and three runs in an 8-4 win over Round Rock on Monday.

Ottavinia hit .321 (9-for-28) with three doubles, two homers and 11 RBI in six games. He scored four runs, owned a .643 slugging percentage and a .387 on-base percentage.

Ottavinia hit a three-run homer during an 11-2 win over Arkansas last Monday and went 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI in an 11-8 win against the Travelers the following night.

Mears went 2-0 and allowed just an unearned run over 12 1/3 innings in two starts. He yielded only seven hits, struck out four and walked three.

He surrendered an unearned run and five hits over six innings during a 3-1 win over Midland on Monday. Meares came back with 6 1/3 scoreless innings to lead San Antonio to a 1-0 victory in the finale of the six-game series with the Rock Hounds on Saturday.
