CHENEY, Wash. (AP) Seattle quarterback Trent Dilfer will be out four to eight weeks with a sprained ligament in his right knee. Coach Mike Holmgren set the time his top QB will be out after examinations on the knee he hurt during the second quarter of the Seahawks' 28-10 exhibition loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night. Playing in his third series against the Colts, Dilfer was hit by defensive tackle James Cannida and defensive end Chad Bratzke as he attempted a pass to Koren Robinson with 2:02 gone in the second quarter. Before the injury, Dilfer completed 9- of 11 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. The Seahawks led 10-0 when Dilfer left and was replaced by Matt Hasselbeck, who was 14-for-22 for 139 yards, with two interceptions. Indianapolis scored 28 unanswered points with Dilfer out of the game. Dilfer signed a one-year contract with Seattle before last season to back up Hasselbeck, who had never started a regular-season game before coming to Seattle. Dilfer went 4-0 when Hasselbeck was injured, improving his string of victories to 15 straight starts. Before coming to Seattle, Dilfer led the Baltimore Ravens to victory in the 2001 Super Bowl and was released a month later. Dilfer signed an $8 million, 4-year contract in the offseason and Holmgren named him the starter this spring, demoting Hasselbeck. Holmgren said Monday that the team was looking for a veteran quarterback to back up Hasselbeck.
