WPVA, ALBERTO VO5 TEAM UP TO OFFER GRANTS TO AREA FITNESS ORGANIZATIONS

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (April 10, 1997) --- The Women's Professional Volleyball Association and Alberto VO5, the official hair care sponsor of the 1997 WPVA Tour, will offer two $500 grants to fitness organizations in the Orlando area. The winners of the grant will be announced during the Cybergenics Open at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex, May 9-11. Alberto VO5 and the WPVA have created the "Get in Condition with Team VO5" fitness grant to support local fitness organizations. During the 14-market WPVA Tour, Alberto VO5 will award 28 grants, totaling $14,000, to fitness organizations that best motivate female participation in sports and fitness. The fitness grant is open to all non-profit clubs, groups and teams with a 501(c)3 certification. Recipients of the grant will be judged on how well they motivate female participation and advancement in sports and fitness activities. Two organizations will be selected in each city on the WPVA tour. Applications must reach the WPVA office no later than April 18. The WPVA Tour brings the best women pro beach volleyball players to town for the Cybergenics Open, May 9-11, at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando. Qualifying rounds begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, to determine the 32-team field for the main draw competition. The main draw action gets underway at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 9, and continues at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 10. The top four teams return for the semifinals at 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 11. The championship finals are set for Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. There is an $8 charge for general admission to Disney's Wide World of Sports complex.
