HOLLY MCPEAK

On a Roll

Holly McPeak has been "on fire" on the Evian Tour since the start of the 1995 season. She has been named as the WPVA's most valuable player and top defender the past two seasons. McPeak, who competed in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games where she finished fifth with Nancy Reno, has been playing full-time on the WPVA circuit since 1991 when she was named the Evian Tour's rookie-of-the-year. She needs $27,644.11 to become only the second WPVA player to win $500,000 in their professional career. McPeak has earned 69.1 percent of her pro earnings ($326,325 of $472,355.89) since April, 1995. Here's McPeak's totals since 1995, including her participation on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour circuit.

As former high school and college teammates, Holly McPeak and Lisa Arce are the "hot" team on the Evian Women's Pro Beach Tour after winning five of the last six events (New York, Huntington Beach and Hawaii at the end of 1996 and the 1997 season openers at Miami Beach and Deerfield Beach). Overall, the pair has posted six event wins in nine Evian Tour stops together enroute to a 49-5 domestic match mark. Arce and McPeak grew up together in Manhattan Beach, Calif., and attended both Mira Costa High School and Cal-Berkeley together. McPeak, who finished her college career at UCLA, has been named as the Evian Tour's most valuable player and top defender the past two seasons. Arce, the Evian Tour's top rookie in 1994 and most improved player in 1995, finished fifth in earnings ($60,125) last season. Arce and McPeak also captured their first FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event together in 1996 by winning the Pusan, Korea stop August 25. The Arce/McPeak tandem continued their successful ways on the FIVB Tour by finishing fourth last November in Salvador, Brazil, second in February at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and third in March at Melbourne. Here's Arce/McPeak's combined record for both domestic and international events together:
