Each year the WPVA includes in its regular tour package four Grand Slam Events, so named because of their special nature and strong audience appeal.

The 1997 Grand Slam Events are The U.S. Open in Huntington Beach, CA, the Evian Invitational in New York City, the Evian National Championships in Hermosa Beach, CA, and The Best of he Beach held on the island of Kaua'i, Hawaii.
