MINNEAPOLIS -- Admittedly embarrassed after a 19-point home loss to Connecticut two days earlier, the Minnesota Lynx took out their frustration on the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night.

Vanessa Hayden scored all six of her points during a decisive 15-2 surge in the second half, and grabbed seven rebounds to help the Lynx to a 66-45 victory.

Nicole Ohlde had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Lynx, who bounced back from a 72-53 drubbing at the hands of the Sun on Sunday to snap the Fever's three-game winning streak.

"They came out really aggressive to make up for the loss against Connecticut," Fever forward Tamika Catchings said. "Tonight, we just didn't have it."

Catchings had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Fever, who shot just 35 percent. The 45 points allowed were the second-fewest in Lynx history. They allowed 44 in a victory over Miami in 2000.

"It was very embarrassing on Sunday," Hayden said. "We knew we had to come out hard so that didn't happen again."

The Lynx used sharp perimeter shooting during a 13-0 run in the first half, then went to the post for an 11-0 spurt in the second half to win for the seventh time in eight home games.

"It started with their guards and ended with their post players," Catchings said.

Ohlde led the Lynx in scoring, but it was Hayden's efforts in the lane early in the second half that made the difference.

"Vanessa can have an impact on a game, no doubt about it," Lynx coach Suzie McConnell Serio said. "She made some great plays and her teammates got her the ball."

Indiana led by as many as seven points in the first half before the Lynx responded with a barrage of 3-pointers.

Three straight from behind the arc, including two in a row from Stacey Lovelace, highlighted a 13-0 run.

The Lynx were 6-for-9 from 3-point range, but just 4-for-19 from everywhere else on the floor in the period.

The Fever managed just one basket in the final 7:27 of the first half and trailed 30-25 at the break.

After a jumper from Natalie Williams and two free throws by Kelly Miller to start the second half, the Fever closed the gap to 30-29.

The Fever doubled down hard on Hayden and Ohlde in the first half, but Minnesota's 3-point shooting forced the defense to extend out to the perimeter.

That opened up things for Hayden. She made two layups to get things started, then capped the 15-2 surge with a jumper to make the it 45-31 with just under 12:30 to play.

"It was like the parting of the Red Sea," Hayden said of the post defense in the second half. "It made it so much easier for the post players."

Minnesota prevailed despite leading scorer Katie Smith's ongoing shooting slump. She went the final 29:05 of Sunday's blowout loss to Connecticut without scoring and didn't get her first basket on Tuesday until 14:24 of the second half, a span of 53:29. Smith finished with 3 points on 1-of-6 shooting.

"The great thing is, teams key on Katie, but other players were stepping up," McConnell Serio said. "That makes (the win) that much better."
