Shock sign former Fever center Schumacher

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The Detroit Shock on Saturday signed center Kelly Schumacher to a contract for the remainder of the season. Terms were not disclosed.

The 6-foot-5-inch Schumacher came off the bench in all 34 games last season with the Phoenix Mercury, averaging 4.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 16 minutes for the league champions.

She spent one season with the New York Liberty in 2006 and played her first five seasons with the Indiana Fever.

Entering her eighth WNBA season out of the University of Connecticut, Schumacher has career averages of 5.1 points, 3.1 rebounds in 15.9 minutes per game.
