AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The Detroit Shock signed six-time WNBA All-Star Taj McWilliams-Franklin to a one-year contract extension and free agent Ashley Shields to a seven-day contract on Tuesday.

The Shock received McWilliams-Franklin last week in a trade with the Washington Mystics for Tasha Humphrey, Eshaya Murphy and a 2009 second-round draft pick.

McWilliams-Franklin played 26 games with Washington this season, averaging 13.3 points and 7.3 rebounds.

Shields was selected by the Houston Comets out of Southwest Tennessee Community College with the eighth pick in the 2007 draft. She played 26 games for the Comets last season, averaging 5.3 points and 1.3 rebounds. Houston waived her June 27.
