Shock reward coach Laimbeer with two-year extension

Presented by Epson

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Coach Bill Laimbeer re-signed with the WNBA champion Detroit Shock for another two years on Thursday.

Terms of the deal were not released.

Laimbeer, a two-time NBA champion as a member of the Detroit Pistons, guided the Shock this summer to their third title during his seven years as coach.

He was WNBA Coach of the Year in 2003 after guiding a Shock team that ended the previous season with the league's worst record to the championship. They also won the 2006 title.

Laimbeer is the WNBA's all-time leader in playoff and finals victories, while his six consecutive playoff appearances are tied for second most all-time.

The three championships are one shy of the league record.
