FIFA released their June rankings on Thursday, the final release ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The United States Men's National team moved up one spot to No. 13 and remain the highest ranked team from the CONCACAF region.
Reigning World Cup champion Spain remained in the No. 1 spot while World Cup hosts Brazil moved into the top three. Germany and Portugal, group rivals with the U.S. in Brazil, rank second and fourth. Their other group foes, Ghana, are ranked No. 37.
The rankings, which use a formula-based system, take into account all international games played during the month of May. The U.S. beat Azerbaijan 2-0 on May 27 in San Francisco in their only contest during the month. Their 2-1 win over Turkey on June 1 will be factored into the next rankings released following the World Cup.
