The United States Men's National Team had planned to have one final World Cup tune-up Thursday in the form of a closed-door scrimmage with Belgium. Those plans, however, have gone awry.

Belgium coach Marc Wilmots was concerned about potential travel issues and delays due to transportation strikes in the area.

"[We] will not take the risk to go to Sao Paulo, looking at the possibility of a strike and traffic jams," Wilmots said Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. "I don't want to sit in a bus for five hours."

Wilmots had said earlier Wednesday that he and Klinsmann had planned to discuss a cancellation, which later came to fruition.

The USMNT will begin play officially June 16 against Ghana, while Belgium will face Algeria in its opener.
