United States forward Clint Dempsey had a busy Monday. Not only did he become the first American to score in three World Cups, he also notched the tournament's fifth fastest goal in history and broke his nose.

FIFA changed the timing of the goal Tuesday from 29 seconds to 30 seconds, which marks the fastest since Turkey's Hakan Suker scored 11 seconds into a match with South Korea in 2002.

Dempsey also suffered a broken nose in the match when he was kicked in the face in the 32nd minute. He remained in the game but admitted afterwards that breathing was difficult, and he hoped that wouldn't be the case in the U.S.'s next match this weeekend.

Of course Dempsey isn't the only banged-up American player. Matt Besler left with a hamstring injury at halftime, and, most importantly, forward Jozy Altidore was stretchered off in the first half with a strained hamstring.

Altidore is slated to be evaluated Tuesday.

The United States will face Portugal Sunday evening at 6 p.m. ET.
