There were some questions on this side of the Atlantic about Jurgen Klinsmann before the World Cup due to his exclusion of Landon Donovan and statements that he didn't believe the United States could realistically win the World Cup.

The US manager has answered many of those questions, though, guiding it through the “Group of Death” into the knockout stage. His lineup and tactical decisions have been excellent, and his substitutions have been timely and effective.

It's not just Americans that have taken notice, either.

Turkish club Galatasaray has confirmed Klinsmann is one of their top two targets for their vacant manager position.

Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini parted ways with the club earlier this month, and Galatasaray has been searching for a replacement. Former Manchester United boss David Moyes met with the Super Lig club, but Galatasaray released a statement that Klinsmann and Germany manager Joachim Low were the top targets.

“The president has given a speech about it,” the club said, according to The Guardian. “He said that we just spoke with David Moyes and he said that he can come to Galatasaray but he is not one of the main targets for us. They just spoke to each other, exchanging ideas – that it is it. It is true the president talked with David Moyes. We are not in a rush, we are waiting for the end of the World Cup. The first two targets are Löw or Klinsmann.”

Klinsmann managed the German national team from 2004-06, and then managed Bayern Munich for less than one season before taking over the United States national team in 2011.

Galatasaray is consistently one of the best clubs in Turkey, finishing second in the table this season after winning the league the previous two seasons. They also won the Turkish Cup this campaign, while reaching the knockout stage of the Champions League. In 2013, the club reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
