FIFA announced Monday that Brazil's attempt to get Thiago Silva's yellow card overturned has been denied.
Silva was booked Friday against Colombia. It was his second yellow card of the tournament, which meant he'd be suspended for the team's semifinal game Tuesday against Germany.
It was revealed Sunday that Brazil had lodged the complaint with FIFA, though it was clearly a longshot.
Silva, a defender and team captain, will be available to play over the weekend in either the final or consolation match.
