Miroslav Klose becomes World Cup's all-time leading goal scorer

Lost in the onslaught of Germany's five-goal, first-half effort against Brazil, was that striker Mirsoslav Klose became the World Cup's all-time leading goal scorer in the 23rd minute of the match.

Klose, 36, tallied his 16th goal in 23 World Cup games as he buried a beautiful drop-off from Thomas Muller into the right corner of the goal. Muller, who scored the Germans' first goal, laid it off and Klose finished the sequence after his first shot had deflected back towards him.

The Polish-born striker had been tied with Ronaldo at 15 goals each, but Tuesday's notch sets him higher than any other player in World Cup history. He scored his first goal of the 2014 World Cup when he came on as a substitute in a 2-2 draw against Ghana.

Klose's goal against Ghana made him just the third player in World Cup history to score at four different World Cups (Pele, Uwe Seeler of West Germany).
