UPDATE -- 12:48 a.m. ET Friday : LeBron James flew back to Miami early Friday morning, with Dwyane Wade in tow, before a planned trip to Brazil to watch Sunday's World Cup final between Argentina and Germany, Yahoo Sports and ESPN reported.
Yahoo reports a decision is expected before James leaves for Brazil.
James has plans to fly to World Cup over the weekend. Heat and Cavs expect his decision before he leaves for Brazil, sources tell Yahoo.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) July 11, 2014
I'm told James's plan - to fly from Vegas to Miami to Brazil - has been planned for more than a month, and that nothing should b read n2 it— Chris Broussard (@Chris_Broussard) July 11, 2014
Dwyane Wade expected to be on a flight back to Miami with LeBron James tonight, league sources told Yahoo. They had been together in Vegas.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) July 11, 2014
EARLIER POST, 1:08 p.m. ET: LeBron's apparently going to the Germany-Argentina World Cup final on Sunday, thus combining only the two biggest sports stories of the summer. Seriously, if his impending decision doesn't break the Internet, LeBron posing with Neymar or Pele surely will do the trick.
Maybe he'll flip the script on Pat Riley, Dwyane Wade, Dan Gilbert and all the other players in this drama and just announce he's suiting up alongside Lionel Messi in Argentina's midfield. No way Germany could handle LeBron on set pieces.
LeBron is currently in Las Vegas hosting his annual skills academy, and he met with Heat president Pat Riley, among others, yesterday. The meeting adjourned without a commitment from James, and he doesn't have any other meetings set up.
After Vegas, James is reportedly headed straight to Brazil, instead of back home to Ohio. What that morsel means is for you to decide.
