Jermaine Jones is a soccer player for the USA national team who happened to grow up in Germany but he knows a thing or two about great strikes. All you have to do is watch his goal from the USA's matchup with Portugal in the 2014 World Cup or that he was simply one of the USA's best players all tournament long for proof of that.
Or you can watch his first kick effort prior to the Dodgers game on Friday.
Jones, who is enjoying some time off between the World Cup and the upcoming season in Turkey, where he plays for Besiktas, stopped by the Dodgers for the traditional pregame festivities.
At first Jones threw out the first pitch, a bit inside on a right-handed hitter. But then seeing he was a bit out of his element (or simply that it was Brian Wilson, that explains almost anything), Dodgers pitcher Brian Wilson gave him a second chance at a strike by bringing out a soccer ball.
A.J. Ellis had a little fun and did his best impression of a goalie on a penalty, swatting the shot away but credit where it's due; the ball might have been a little high but it was over the plate, proof that he picked the right sport.
