Canelo Alvarez vs. Chavez Jr. purse: Boxers to earn a combined $8 million to show
Safe to say, there will be a lot of money involved in Saturday's slugfest
Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. stand to make a ton of money on Saturday night, provided both make it to the ring. According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Alvarez will earn $5 million and Chavez $3 million just to show on Saturday.
The closest comparison in terms of show money I can remember is Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz where McGregor earned $5 million and Diaz brought in $3 million for their UFC 202 rematch last August.
Good work if you can find it.
The two fighters are set to headline Golden Boy Promotions' HBO PPV on Saturday beginning at 9 p.m. ET live from Las Vegas.
