As boxing continues its slow return amid the global coronavirus pandemic, the sport is now set to invade Biloxi, Mississippi, with a card to be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. In the main event, DeShon Webster battles Samuel Clarkson in a cruiserweight clash from the Mississippi Coast Convention Center.
Webster (12-3-2, 6 KO) started his career with nine straight victories but has fallen on some rough time since making a moderate step-up in competition. He's gone 3-3-2 in his eight most recent fights, including a 12-round decision loss to Tervel Pulev in his most recent outing, a battle for the WBA international cruiserweight championship.
Clarkson (22-6, 15 KO) has been in with some quality fighters in his career, including a loss to Dimitri Bivol in a 2017 fight WBA light heavyweight championship bout. The Showtime Boxing clash went south early for Clarkson, who suffered a pair of early knockdowns before being stopped in the fourth round. Clarkson has shown promise against second-tier opposition in his career, and at 29, could have potential to find his footing and work his way back to another title opportunity. He will need to improve on his 2-2 record since the Bivol loss, though
