Under Armour vs. John Calipari. Under Armour vs. Nike. Calipari vs. Mark Turgeon. Family ties vs. “La Familia.”
No matter how you slice it, the recruitment of Andrew and Aaron Harrison came down to Maryland and Kentucky. Both sides had convincing pitches – and entering Thursday, there was legitimate suspense regarding the decisions.
Until 5:33 p.m., when two of the top four players in the class of 2013 announced they were heading to Kentucky.
"For the next four years, we will be attending the University of Kentucky," the twins said.
To be clear, this is arguably the biggest one-day coup in recent recruiting memory as the Harrison twins are the best package deal in history. The Travis (Texas) products are attached at the hip and play extremely well together. Of course, they're supremely talented to boot.
"We never thought about leaving each other in college," Andrew said.
"We've been playing together our whole lives," Aaron added.
Andrew Harrison is the No. 2-ranked prospect in the country, while Aaron Harrison comes in at No. 4. The Wildcats immediately move to No. 1 in the team rankings for the class of 2013.
