Arizona beats Utah to remain atop the Top 25 (and one)

If you're a writer, there's always a fanbase, especially in the age of Twitter, that thinks you're dumb or high. Or both. And, lately, that fanbase for me has been Iowa's fanbase.

Man, are they fired up.

Because I have Iowa ranked 19th, that's why.

This, according to some Iowa fans, is proof that I hate Iowa, and I don't even know how to respond to that. (Why would anybody hate Iowa?) Either way, here's the truth: I actually like this Iowa team a lot and won't be surprised if the Hawkeyes make a run in March and end up in the Elite Eight or maybe even the Final Four. When I watch, I'm a fan. But, that said, there's not a whole lot on Iowa's resume in terms of signature wins.

Have you looked closely?

Iowa is 0-4 against other schools currently in the Top 25 (and one) and just 3-4 against top-50 RPI opponents and top-50 KenPom opponents. So it's nice that the Hawkeyes have zero losses outside of the top 15 -- and, seriously, that is nice -- but how high should a team that's 0-4 against the Top 25 (and one) actually be ranked in the Top 25 (and one)?

Maybe slightly higher than 19th.

Perhaps ahead of, say, Pittsburgh, Creighton and Duke.

That's fair.

But 19th is more than reasonable given the body of work, I think.

Anyway ...

The Top 25 (and one) updates every morning and also on Sunday nights.
