College basketball rankings: Virginia still No. 1 and Kentucky back in the AP Top 25

Virginia is the No. 1 team in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the third consecutive week. The Cavaliers edged out Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh in convincing fashion on the hardwood this week to improve to 18-1 over their last 19 contests, a mark that also helped them wrap up the ACC regular-season title outright on Saturday.

Virginia received 48 of 65 first-place votes, while Michigan State, No. 2 for a third consecutive week and winners of 12 straight, garnered 17.

Xavier moved up one spot to No. 3 this week, flipping places with Villanova, while Duke remained at No. 5

Making an appearance back in the AP Top 25 this week is Kentucky, which jumped from unranked to No. 23. The Wildcats clinched their third consecutive win on Saturday over Missouri, and snapped their two-week drought of being left out of the rankings.
