College football on CBS Sports Network: Watch San Diego State and Air Force
After a close game against Michigan, Air Force is playing San Diego State with some momentum
Mountain West action abounds on Saturday as the undefeated San Diego State Aztecs are facing off against the Air Force Falcons in a primetime showdown. San Diego State is looking to maintain its undefeated record against the 1-1 Falcons, who suffered a difficult loss to Michigan last Saturday in a grueling game. The Air Force defense limited Michigan throughout the game, although the triple option offense sputtered.
SDSU is coming off of a huge 20-17 win against Stanford, one of the Pac-12 powers. It will try to keep that momentum going against Air Force's predictably unpredictable offense. It all begins Saturday night, as both of these teams clamor to get a leg-up in the Mountain West standings.

San Diego State: Coming off of a season defining win against Stanford, SDSU will continue to try to ride that wave as they play Air Force. Sitting at 3-0 -- tops in the Mountain West early in the season -- SDSU now has their sites set on being ranked. If it can defeat Air Force and, next week, Northern Illinois in decisive fashion, they'll have a strong case. Rahsaad Penny looks like a remarkably explosive back early in the year, and as SDSU squares off against a surprising Air Force defense, he'll be called upon to try to grind down the well-conditioned Air Force defense, who hung around Michigan throughout an entire game while the offense sputtered.
Air Force: Beating San Diego State would be a spectacular bounce-back game for Air Force, which came up just short against Michigan. Their triple option offense was no match for the larger, faster Michigan front seven, and the offense struggled to move the ball. The defense's consistency kept them in the game, but a punt return touchdown early in the second half ultimately proved to be a back-breaker. Although Air Force may be sitting at 1-1, it knows that it deserves to be in the conversation for best teams in the Mountain West, and the Falcons are going to want to use this game to prove it. Unfortunately, the triple option offense is so reliant upon decent gains on first and second down, it may be tough to hang with SDSU -- but the defense is equipped to do so.
