Another quality non-conference game was announced on Monday, and this one is between Duke and defending champion Connecticut.

The two will battle at the IZOD Center in New Jersey on December 18.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to play Connecticut at the IZOD Center next season," Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement. "We have a strong fan base in the New York / New Jersey area and I am sure Connecticut will have great fan support as well. It is always special to play in front of terrific crowds and it should be an outstanding game between two talented teams. Connecticut is obviously coming off a championship season and has excellent personnel returning. Coach [Kevin] Ollie has done a terrific job running the program and we look forward to the challenge."

“We are very much looking forward to playing against Duke at the IZOD Center this December,” Uconn coach Kevin Ollie added. “Our series against Duke includes some of the most exciting and most meaningful games in UConn basketball history and we have the utmost respect for Coach Krzyzewski and his program. Plus, it will be wonderful to return to the IZOD Center, where UConn has a long history. It not only gives our fans in the New York-New Jersey area a chance to watch us play, but is close enough to allow our great fans from Connecticut to come and support us.”

Duke has plenty of history at the Meadowlands, winning 20 of its 21 games in East Rutherford, N.J. The two teams have met nine times, Duke winning five and Connecticut taking four. They last played in the 2009 NIT Season Tip-Off Championship Game, with Duke emerging victorious.

Duke is No. 2 in the Preseason Top 25 (And One), while the defending champs sit at No. 20.
